What is Hope?

Most people understand hope as wishful thinking, as in "I hope something will happen." This is not what the Bible means by hope. The Biblical definition of hope is "confident expectation." Hope is a firm assurance regarding things that are unclear and unknown (Romans 8:24-25; Hebrews 11:1,7). Hope is a fundamental component of the life of the righteous (Proverbs 23:18). Without hope, life loses its meaning (Lamentations 3:18, Job 7:6) and in death there is no hope (Isaiah 38:18, Job 17:15). The righteous who trust or put their hope in God will be helped (Psalm 28:7), and they will not be confounded, put to shame, or disappointed (Isaiah 49:23). The righteous who have this trustful hope in God have a general confidence in God's protection and help (Jeremiah 29:11) and are free from fear and anxiety (Psalm 46:2-3).

The New Testament idea of hope is the recognition that in Christ is found the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises and hope (Matthew 12:21, 1 Peter 1:3). Christian hope is rooted in the faith in the eschatological (end time judgment) act of divine salvation in Christ (Galatians 5:5). Hope of Christians is brought into being through the presence of the promised Holy Spirit (Romans 8:24-25). It is the future hope of the resurrection of the dead (Acts 23:6), the promises given to Israel (Acts 26:6-7), the redemption of the body and of the whole creation (Romans 8:23-25), eternal glory (Colossians 1:27), eternal life and the inheritance of the saints (Titus 3:5-7), the return of Christ (Titus 2:11-14), transformation into the likeness of Christ (1 John 3:2-3), the salvation of God (1 Timothy 4:10) or simply Christ Himself (1 Timothy 1:1).

The certainty of this blessed future is guaranteed through the indwelling of the Spirit (Romans 8:23-25), Christ in us (Colossians 1:27), and the resurrection of Christ (Acts 2:26). Hope is produced by endurance through suffering (Romans 5:2-5) and is the inspiration behind endurance (1 Thessalonians 1:3, Hebrews 6:11). Those who hope in Christ will see Christ exalted in life and in death (Philippians 1:20). Trustworthy promises from God give us hope (Hebrews 6:18-19), and we may boast in this hope (Hebrews 3:6) and exhibit great boldness in our faith (2 Corinthians 3:12). By contrast, those who do not place their trust in God are said to be without hope (Ephesians 2:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:13).

Along with faith and love, hope is an enduring virtue of the Christian life (1 Corinthians 13:13), and love springs from hope (Colossians 1:4-5). Hope produces joy and peace in believers through the power of the Spirit (Romans 12:12, 15:13). Paul attributes his apostolic calling to the hope of eternal glory (Titus 1:1-2). Hope in the return of Christ is the basis for believers to purify themselves in this life (Titus 2:11-14, 1 John 3:3).

H.O.P.E >> How amazing it is. Do you have HOPE today?

Clean Heart to Prevent Heart Attack

John 17:17-19
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.
For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Our lives are like a blood vessel. It needs to be clean to be able to be used for it's optimum capacity. If something is blocking, blood cannot flow smoothly. In fact, If any of the blood vessel supplying the heart (coronary arteries) get completely blocked (coronary thrombosis), the part of the heart muscle that's deprived of blood dies, causing a heart attack (myocardial infarction).

No blood - No life.

Let's our lives be free from any contaminants that will blocked the flow of the river of God into our lives. When we are clean, the power will flows into our lives as well. We can enter into His presence. Surely we shall be blessed abundantly.

Music Showcase 2009

After so many years involved in UM minisry (i think 7 yrs ++ ?) this is the first time in my life I witnessed quite an amazing and also a very entertaining music showcase in UM!

I would say that the pianist was superbly skillful. The one that impressed me was the speed by one pianist. It was a long repertoire and she played almost every key on the piano! I salute her.

I also love the soprano (by Doris). Never imagine that her voice is so keng! Small mouth but loud and nice voice! Perfect.

There is also another Cinematic piece performed by a Iranian where he used electronic keyboard. It was very nice. Hearing it as if you just finish watching the whole series of the movie The Lord of the Ring trilogy in 5 min! Very cool and my mouth just dropped on the floor! (Ooops...excuse me...)

And the last and not least, definitely the only piece that able to make everybody laugh is the Cat's Duet. This interesting and creatively done piece by 2 girls accompanied by piano is the one I love the most! Basically it's all about a story of a male cat chasing after another female cat. But what grabs our complete attention is that both the girls are really singing using cat's voice! It was so real, as if I was sucked into the Cat' world. A high thumb up! (Congrats to the male cat that finally able to win over the female cat :p )

Thanks to Paul for this show. Paul was actually the usher of that night :)

I believe Hubert, Bao Tai Yan, Selena, Jia Rong, Sze Zee and Lai Peng really enjoyed the night. Simply delicious and memorable experience. :)

And I know Bao already booked his calendar for next year's showcase. Can't wait to see Paul on stage lor!

Earthquakes - The Sign?

The 2008 Sichuan earthquake or the Great Sichuan Earthquake was a deadly earthquake that measured at 8.0 and 7.9 occurred on May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China and killed at least 68,000, 374,176 injured, with 18,222 listed as missing and left about 4.8 million people homeless.

In conjuction with this, numerous parties have given many helping hands to support the victims.
There was even a touching video being produced by the Hong Kong artists to encourage and support the victims.

The Word of God is not silent at all about earthquakes as well. In fact, in the gospel of Matthew, Jesus himself already mentioned it clearly about the occurence of earthquakes in Matt 24:

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.
Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of birth pains.
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
Are you READY, today?

Mamak Stall

Mamak stall is the most phenomenal place in Malaysia. Literally we do everything there. Sharing, supper, talk business, shepherding, watching MU beating Chealsea, hang out after exam or cg, meet old friends, paktor, fellowship, talk movie (before & after movie), Bible study, and some even do homework and last minute revision there during before exam (check it out at KFC millenium court in the coming month of november 2009??).

With even some mamak stalls providing free wi-fi, opening 24hours 7days a week, that's the best place to go besides church and Cg :p
One of the 7 wonders of the world.

Almost 20% of our lifetime is spent at mamak stall. It's part of Malaysian's life.
Hey, we even celebrate it with song! Check out the mtv below:

So, wanna go mamak?

The Don't Song

This mtv is to be dedicated to my shepherd who is getting married soon. Also to all those married couple out there! God bless your marriage! :)

G.O.S.P.E.L

The irreducible minimum of the gospel message can be communicated in an acrostic with six letters in it that happen to spell out the word "GOSPEL".

God created us to be with him. (Genesis 1-2)

Our sin separated us from God. (Genesis 3)

Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. (Genesis 4 - Malachi 4)

Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. (Matthew - Luke)

Everyone who trusts in him alone has eternal life. (John)

Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever. (Acts - Revelation)

This great summary taken from: http://www.dare2share.org/gospeljourney/

Therefore, Go and Share the GOSPEL !

Seems like so many people are concern about my body weight. Really appreaciate. :p
Well, if you really know me, my weight has been "maintained" and "kept" at 57kg for up to the last 5years. ( i can sense some gals are already started to sms to me to ask for the secret...joking...)

So, to give an update to everybody that "loves" me, my current weight today is now 58kg!

The question to ask now:

Can Kar Lock be fatter than 58kg?

so dun miss this adventure with Kar Lock as he tries to gain his weight till the end of the year...Can he hit the mark of 60kg maybe? How can he make it? Is that possible?

So stay tune guys... :)

Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7)

Mighty to Save

My God is Mighty to Save

I personally acceppted The One almost 7 years back.
My younger brother... about 3 years back.
My father...5 days ago! Can you hear the roar in the party above?! PTL!

3 saved. 1 more to go. Never stop praying. and sharing. And praying. And KEEP on sharing.

>>> If you have unsaved family members, keep believing for their salvation. Don’t be discouraged; don’t give up on them. <<<

A wonderful testimony was given to us recently. A woman was faithfully praying for her adult son Ian, who was about 30’ish, single and living in the world. He had no time for the Lord and refused to listen to the Gospel. Ian was stung by several poisonous jellyfish and died later in hospital. His mother continued praying. After Ian died, he met God face to face, repented, returned to earth, was completely healed of the effects of the stings and continues to live to spread the Gospel of salvation. His mother never ceased to pray for her son, even after his death. How amazing is that? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household! Praise the Lord!
(this amazing real story taken from: http://www.bibleabookoftruth.com/YouAndYourHouseholdWillBeSaved.pdf).

God bless you.

“Men, what must I do to be saved?” And they answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved; you and your household. And they declared the Word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house” (Acts 16:30-32).

My God

My God is The One. He is LOve. He is gracious and merciful too. At the same time, He is also righteous and holy too. It grieves Him to see us walking in the wrong path, moreover not reliazing it. That's the essence of love. Love delights in the truth.

My God is an Iniative God. He took the first move. He first loved us.

My God is a God of Restoration. He redirects. He always wanted to bring us back to Him. On the right track. Draw us back to Him. Into His embrace and presence. Because that's the most secured and best place that we can ever been. And that's where our good God wants us to be. Close to Him.

My God is a compassionate God. He will pull us back no matter how far we have gone. He forgives. No condemanation whatsoever.

My God is a God of action. He moves. He is active. Sometimes He'll give us a really bright blinking RED light to catch our attention. (He is "colorful" too).

And also alot of times, He'll whisper His gentle voice through our ears and heart. He can speak through our conscience too. He can use people to remind us. He can refreshes our memory of His way through worship songs. Through games, movies, the list goes on...

My God is a gracious God. He is able to restore, renew, revive, refresh and regain us back to Him so that we can remain in His presence. To experience His unconditional LOVE.

That's my God.
